Project 13761A
Turnpike Widening from North of Exit 8, in Nashua, to South of Exit 10 in Merrimack
This project will widen the Turnpike from two to three lanes in each direction. The construction work includes pavement widening and reconstruction, replacement of the bridges over Pennichuck Brook, median rehabilitation, overhead sign structure replacements, inclusion of ITS infrastructure, construction of stormwater quality treatment facilities, and the removal of the tunnel located under the FEET at Exit 10. Project completion is scheduled for May 2028.
Recent Activities (as of early July 2026)
Southbound
- Construction of large embankment south of the bridge is completed.
Northbound
- Installation of catch basin frame and grates for Phase 4 has been completed.
Exit 10
- Drainage work has begun.
Pennichuck Brook Bridge
- Phase 2 of the concrete deck has been placed.
- Backfill of the approaches and forming for the approach slabs has begun.
Upcoming Work (July 2026 to August 2026)
Southbound
- Minimal work is expected.
Northbound
- Backfill and preparations for paving the roadway approaches to the bridge.
Exit 10
- Drainage work will continue.
Pennichuck Brook Bridge
- Completion of the approach slabs.
General Traffic Implications
Summer 2026
- Rolling roadblocks, shoulder closures and night work, as needed, for temporary roadwork, as traffic allows.
